Retail stores are opening their doors all over the United States, but it’s happening slowly. International Bancard is hearing from our clients and they’re telling us they feel hopeful and excited to get back to work. They’ve also mentioned they’re inundated with with new safety guidelines, rearranging their brick and mortar locations for limited access, and figuring out how to conduct business in a whole new business environment.
The National Retail Federation recently noted retailers offering free samples are really going to have to make some changes. “For the time being, cooking demonstrations, complimentary beverages and product sampling — a mainstay for many merchants — are pretty much out of the question. Retailers can offer samples by request, just like many ice cream stores.”
Here are 3 quick tips retail merchants for retailers getting back to business
- Make sure your credit card equipment accepts EMV and contactless payments. All International Bancard countertop credit card terminals and POS systems feature contactless (NFC) options. Contactless (NFC) payments allow customers to hold on to their cards throughout the whole transaction.
- Post clear and conspicuous signage inside your retail location, letting your customers know of any changes in the way your store works (hand sanitizing station, must wear masks, samples available on request, etc)
- Consider moving from traditional merchant services prices to a Cash Discount program. With a Cash Discount program, retailers can virtually eliminate all card processing fees.
